An Introduction to the Partners

Bill Willson

Bill Willson began his landscape, design and nursery career in 1974. A graduate of the M.S.U. School of Horticulture, he began working in a retail nursery business that prided itself in high quality nursery stock. Bill left the nursery business to purchase the Jackson Lawn Maintenance Company which began in 1961.

Bill has extensive knowledge of plant material, design and the maintenance of landscapes after installation. He began working with Jay Steinkopf, his partner, in 2003, which evolved into the formation of Willson Steinkopf Landscape Design Contractors L.L.C. Bill's areas of expertise complement Jay's skills to bring the finest of plant materials, hardscape materials and creative designs to the discerning homeowner.

Bill is married to Amy and has three children.

Jay Steinkopf

Jay Steinkopf was born into the nursery business - a third generation family member of a landscaping and nursery business that began in 1931. Jay has over twenty-five years of experience in selling, designing, and installing landscapes. In 1998, Jay left the family business to start Jay Steinkopf Landscape Contractors. A very successful business was born.

After working with Bill two years, Jay realized the potential of merging the two companies to complement each other's skills. Jay excels at the designing and installation of landscape projects with an emphasis on creativity. He has great working knowledge of stone applications for accents, walkways, patios and retaining walls. His goal is to provide a high level of customer service. He strives to give the customer a pleasant working experience from the initial consultation through project completion.

Jay is married to Theresa and has two children.
